Love U Soap’s Carbon off-set Project

Coastal and marine ecosystems are able to store 3-5 times more carbon than normal forests. Unfortunately, about 50% of coastal ecosystems have been destroyed and so much more is under threat.

Love U partnered with the Southern Cardamom REDD+ Project (SCRP) as our carbon offsetting initiative.

The 445,339 ha SCRP area encompasses parts of Southern Cardamom National Park and Tatai Wildlife Sanctuary in Cambodia – one of the 200 most important locations for biodiversity conservation on the planet.

The SCRP area is threatened by deforestation, wildlife poaching and illegal logging. This project ensures that carbon dioxide continues to be absorbed by this incredibly important area of forest and mangroves that would otherwise have been at risk.

We are excited and humbled at the scope of the the SCRP program, including:

  • Strengthening law enforcement in the area to avoid illegal logging.
  • Restore, conserve and sustain both land and water ecosystems, including forests, coastal wetlands, mountains and drylands.
  • Implement policies focusing on sustainability to prevent the loss of natural resources.
  • Integrating earth-friendly practices into policies and strategies to help combat global warming.

Ultimately we love the Environmental impact this will drive: it will reduce emissions by over 115,000 million tonnes of CO2 over the 30 years span of the project, save countless endangered animal species and sustainably support the livelihoods of 21 villages.

The SCRP aligns so closely with Love U Soap’s mission to help preserve Earth’s oceans and waterways.

Love U.
